Personal Statement

There are many situations in which and individual may have to write a personal statement. The personal statement may require that the individual choose form a number of essay topics or to write the personal statement from scratch. The essay topics provided could be extremely broad and allow room for the individual to remain creative or force the individual to limit their writing to a particular event or another subject.
All of the essay topics should be carefully considered before the individual decides to begin writing about one of them. The individual should reflect on what they would write as a personal statement for each of the essay topics. After going through the entire list of essay topics and reflecting on each one, then the individual can begin to write their personal statement.
The personal statement will then be created from one of the essay topics. It is important to pick whichever of the essay topics that the individual who is writing feels the most comfortable with. However, since this is a personal statement, it is important for the individual to limit the amount of information they are writing to everything that is extremely relevant to one of the essay topics.
This is why it is a good idea to not pick essay topics which are too broad when writing a personal statement. When writing, the individual should find their voice when describing or talking about topics that are important to them. The essay should show some of their personality. This is the different between personal and formal writing. In personal writing, the individual has the ability to show more of themselves through what they are writing. Formal writing would involve the writer putting distance between him and the audience.
