Soviet Union & the United States

The un fourth dimensionly achievements and failures of the Soviet federation and the United States in orbiting celluloid artificial satellites have been well documented, as has the development of rocketry and seat science. The space race has also been subjected to political interpretations as part of the bigger Cold War between the two superpowers. Even the early embarrassment of the United States by the Soviet launching of Sputnik I has been frequently told. However, I have not found the politics of those early moments of the space race discussed in detail, when the United States was face its embarrassment. I propose to examine the mood and actions of the United States from the time of the launching of Sputnik I until the U.S. space program gained some pulsation and had some success.
My research examines that, although the United States did have a satellite program, it was not well organized or a senior high school government priority. It took the shock of embarrassment by the Soviet Union to get the Eisenhower administration and the country seriously committed to creating a strong space program. Even then the government seemed impenetrable to act, as though it took a while for the impact of our thrash to sink in, particularly as Russia kept gaining to a greater extent and more propaganda through her successes.




Although I pull up stakes be presenting this political impact against the framework of the events of space launchings, the larger part of my paper will focus on political actions and reactions. I hope to show how Americans, particularly the Eisenhower administration, moved from confusion to a strong lading to space research.
