The article explains how this order was first called upon in the 1970s when the idea of drug resistance was founded but the order was never followed through. The FDA is attempting to ask drug companies from voluntarily withdrawing from supplying animals antibiotics, which are being placed in their food. The United States Poultry and Egg association claims that though antibiotics were first used to promote growth in animals, the use of antibiotics is now used to prevent diseases that spread among animals in farms, and some that can even spread to mankind.

The drug companies essential respond to the FDA and prove that the drugs are not only unspoiled but also necessary in order for antibiotics to hide to be placed in animal feed. The reason world health advocates, the general population, and the FDA are concerned for the presence of antibiotics in livestock feed is because the animals develop a resistance to the drugs which causes the drug to lose its effectiveness in humans. Also, superbugs become an issue because animals welcome developed a resistance to certain bacteria receivable to the bacterias presence in their feed and humans have not so humans can draw diseases from being around the animals (Harris, 2012).
