University of Phoenix My in-person Model for Helping By Lisa Montgomery 2/9/2009 ? My Personal Model for Helping When I was young my family raised me in the Mormon religion. Mormons believe that you should love your fellow while as you love yourself. They believe in giving almostone in need the shirt make of your back and they instill this in their children. I can mobilize being read a certain story from the watchword and having to memorize the scriptures because they had so much importance to our religion. The story that was told is intimately a merchant that was beaten, robbed and stripped then left for wild at the office of the alley. A priest walks by and sees the man lying by the side of the road and crosses to the other side and walks on by. A Levite comes walking up and sees the man egg laying there and he also crosses to the other side of the road and walks on by. A Samaritan comes along and sees the man and takes pity on him and pours wine and oil on his wounds and bandages him. The Samaritan then puts the man on his donkey and takes him to an inn where he cares for him. When it was time for the Samaritan to leave he pays the inn keeper to care for the man until he returns. (Bible, Luke 10:30-35.) I wanted to be exchangeable the Good Samaritan.

Although I am no longer a Mormon some of their teachings I still carry with me. Wanting to be like the Good Samaritan is still in my heart. The compassion and love he showed for a total stranger I still revere to this day and have tried to follow his example. When I grew up I ended up going down a very different road. The road I took led me into drugs and the highroad life. For a long time I was a sensibly lost individual. My lifestyle eventually ended me up in prison. Prison was not a fun place further it was the best thing that could have happened to me. While in prison I got clean from the drugs and I found God again.
