State prisons are run by the state and are for criminals who violate a state law and shamt care what they cause from it. So, from this information you can agnise that what a prison is there to do as a total institution is to make criminals realize what they have make wrong and show them the best way they can outstrip it and live in society the right way and not get into trouble. Jails are important to the criminal justice system of rules because it keeps the criminals locked up and also keeps it to where people actually want to be around in society.
